Sunsetting Dynamics SL
With all this talk about the pending “doomsday” of Microsoft Dynamics SL it’s important to know what your future looks like. How long can you realistically stay on Dynamics SL? There are many things that are very important to know about Dynamics SL and its future, and we laid them out for you based on which version you are currently using.
Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 or earlier:
- Updates no longer available
- Consultant familiarity scarce
- Extended support ended July 2021
Microsoft Dynamics SL 2015:
- Updates no longer available
- Mainstream ended January 2020
- Extended support ending January 14, 2025
Microsoft Dynamics SL 2018
- Mainstream support and updates ending January 9, 2024
- Extended Support July 11, 2028
After reviewing all of these facts it is important to look towards the future. With SL 11 or 15 users, how much money and time for you to switch to Dynamics SL 18? The reality is, you will need to act soon and do something soon, but at some point, you will have to switch. As for SL 18, you may be okay for now, but for how long? Overall, starting January 9, 2024, Microsoft will no longer have updates, new releases, or patches for Dynamics SL 2018. By 2028, there will be no extended support. You will also eventually have to start your search for a new ERP.
