2024 R2 Feature Update: Enhances to Anomaly Detection
Acumatica has made significant updates to its anomaly detection features with the 2024 R2 release.
With Acumatica ERP’s anomaly detection feature, supply chain managers can identify irregularities in numeric columns of generic inquiry forms. For instance, they can quickly spot records with unusually high or low amounts compared to others. This functionality helps managers monitor data values, correct entry errors, and avoid poor business decisions based on inaccurate data. Additionally, sales and purchase managers can leverage anomaly detection to identify data deviations, such as unusual amounts, totals, or costs, through system analysis.
Anomaly detection employs an unsupervised machine learning algorithm to flag anomalies in numeric values. This algorithm is based on a machine learning model designed to recognize specific patterns. It categorizes certain values as “Significant,” which managers can treat as anomalies, while others may be labeled as “Medium,” indicating potential false positives. The model operates via a cloud service.
The feature can detect anomalies across all records in a generic inquiry form or within specific groups, as defined by the system administrator during setup. Anomaly detection can be run on-demand or scheduled daily, weekly, or monthly. The detected anomalies can then be incorporated into business events and displayed on dashboards for further analysis.
A user with proper rights can set up anomaly detection for a generic inquiry. Specifically new for 2024 R2, introduced are three new generic inquiries that are built to use anomaly detection.
1. Sales Order Margin Analysis (SO3010ML): This generic inquiry form shows the actual margin amount and percentage for sold items per sales order.
By using anomaly detection, sales managers and supply chain managers can identify anomalies in sales margins, analyze profitability, and make informed pricing decisions in the future.
2. Costs in Purchase Orders (PO3010ML): On this generic inquiry form, purchasing managers and supply chain managers can view the cost information of items included in purchase orders.
By running anomaly detection, these managers can detect unexpected purchase variations early. They can also analyze the costs of abnormal purchases, identify cost inefficiencies, prevent excessive spending, and negotiate better terms with suppliers.
3. Costs in AP Documents (AP3010ML): This generic inquiry form shows the cost information of inventory items included in accounts payable documents.
Accountants, purchasing managers, and supply chain managers can use this form to detect anomalies in these documents. They can also analyze the abnormal costs, identify inconsistencies in billing, detect and correct billing errors, and monitor spending.
Anomaly detection can be a great way for organizations to find errors in data entry or an unusual spike in production or sales. Check back soon for our video showing these GIs with Anomaly Detection.
